Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[18F]FMOR1 is a fluorine-18 labeled fluorocarfentanil-based positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer developed for the in vivo imaging of mu-opioid receptors (MORs) in the brain. It acts as a partial agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, exhibiting approximately 90% functional efficacy compared to the full agonist DAMGO. Developed by researchers at Yale University and Columbia University, [18F]FMOR1 is designed to overcome the short half-life limitations of carbon-11 labeled tracers like [11C]carfentanil while maintaining high specificity, selectivity, and favorable brain kinetics. Preclinical evaluations in rodents and non-human primates have demonstrated rapid brain kinetics, high specific binding signals, and regional distribution patterns consistent with MOR expression, particularly in the nucleus accumbens, amygdala, and thalamus.
